工艺美术是人类生存发展与审美情趣相结合的一种文明形式。它不仅体现了手工文化的特点和人文思想的价值，而且展示了不同地区、不同民族独特的文化和心理状态，充满了人文情怀，甚至一些国家的名字都直接与之相关。比如，中国（China）是瓷器的意思；日本（Japan）是漆艺的意思；地中海曾有一个国家叫腓基尼（Phoenicia），其意则是紫红色染织物。
中国工艺美术，源远流长，技艺精湛，品类繁多，是人类文化艺术宝库中一颗璀璨的明珠。雍容大方、富丽华贵的玉石雕刻，工艺独特、装饰华丽的漆器，造型典雅、色彩别致的陶瓷，繁缛精美、华丽纤巧的江南织绣，无一不闪烁着中国工艺美术大师们的智慧之光，他们用自己卓越而丰富的表现技巧，创造了一个又一个传世珍宝，为世界文明史册增添了辉煌的一页。
这里展示的近200件工艺珍宝，是中国国家工艺美术馆馆藏的经典作品，分为玉器、石雕、木雕、漆器、陶瓷、金属工艺、织绣、民间工艺等八个部分。这些珍宝把传统与现代艺术理念、科研成果融合在一起，体现了典型的东方艺术风韵，代表了当代中国工艺美术的最高水准。相信会给您带来美好的艺术享受。

China Fine Arts & Crafts
Works of art ,as a formation of civilization combining the experience of survival, development and the aesthetic taste of human kind revealing not only the characteristics of manual civilization and the value of humanism, and the unique culture and psychological state of various nations in different regions ,are immerged so deeply in humanistic sentiment that their names are directly related with the name of certain countries, for example, China means china, viz.porcelain and earthenware; Japan means lacquer ware; while Phoenicia, the name of an ancient Mediaeval country means fabric dyed purple-red.
Chinese works of art, with its long history, exquisite skill and rich variety ,is a lustrous pearl in the treasure-house of culture and art of human kind. Stately and magnificent jade ware, richly decorated lacquer ware made with special skill, elegantly molded and painted earthenware and most delicate embroidery from the southern districts of the Yangtze River reflect the glistering wisdom of Chinese masters of works of art, who created superb art treasures with outstanding craftsmanship and versatile skill and added a splendid page to the record of the history of world culture.
China Fine Arts & Crafts on exhibition, about two hundred pieces in all, are the classics held in the China National Arts and Crafts Museum and include eight categories: jade carving, stone carving, wood carving, lacquer, ceramic, metal craft, embroidery and folk handicraft. The perfect combination of traditional and modern ideology of art and the fruit of scientific research, the typical oriental artistic flavor and the highest level of modern Chinese works of art given birth to these works of art guarantee satisfactory artistic enjoyment to visitors.
