Chinese National Music

Chinese national music has a very long historical tradition. As early as in the primitive clan society four or five thousand years ago, the primitive music dance and music was produced. In the feudal society that lasted over two thousand years in China, music kept developing. In history, there appeared many periods when musical culture flourished. Chinese national music culture is rooted in the centuries-old traditional culture soil. The unique traditional Chinese culture creates unique national music. Excellent Chinese national music is the historical accumulation of social thoughts and high development of arts, reflecting the wish and requirements of the people. It is indispensable spiritual companion of the many people, reflects the great spirits of the Chinese Nation, and manifests the feeling, will, strength, vision and pursuit of the Chinese Nation.

Chinese national music plays a great role in cultural communication with foreign countries. In the over two thousand years since Qin and Han, each nationality in China has been conducting wide-range cultural communication and integration with people of each country and each nation in the world and creating the brilliant and magnificent traditional culture of the Chinese Nation. Musical instruments used in Chinese national music such as Huqin, Pipa and Suona all came from the Western Regions. Such music of national minorities has been completely integrated with Han music and become an inseparable composition part of music of the Chinese Nation. Today, national music has become a symbol of a nation, a bridge of friendship and the mutual language for enhancing mutual understanding. National music is a mirror of traditional Chinese culture. It reflects the long-standing historical picture of the Chinese Nation and displays the unique feelings and humanistic spirits of the Chinese Nation. Therefore only when one understands Chinese national music can one truly understand Chinese cultural spirits. National music opens a window to understand and know China for other nations and other countries.

Brief Introduction of "The Female Music Band" under Sichuan Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble　

The Female Music Band under Sichuan Provincial Song and Dance Ensemble was organized in 2001. It is composed of female players professionally trained. All the members are versatile, not only good at playing music but also at singing, dancing and performing. For many times it has performed in numerous occasions for important activities of China. In the year of 2004, it paid a visit to Russia (sent by the Ministry of Cultured of China). Its performance caused a sensation there. In August of 2005, this band attended “China, honor of guest country, Geneva Festival 2005” activity.
