Huang Kunming, the deputy standing minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), called for the Party to uphold Marxism as its permanent theoretical guideline in response to Chinese President Xi Jinping's recent speech on the 95th anniversary of the establishment of the CPC.
In Xi's remarks, the reason why the CPC can accomplish the tough missions that the other political parties in China were unable to, can be generally explained by the Party's adoption of the theories of Marxism as well as its application to China's unique reality.
Huang echoed Xi in saying, "As we are now standing at the threshold of a new chapter of history, we shall in no way forget about our past. We need to arm our entire Party with the scientific theories of Marxism, in order to become good helmsmen for the navigation of the country which is riding on the tides of the era with its colossal size."
Huang underscored the point made by Xi that Marxism has never put an end to the pursuit of truth; instead, it has been open to the infinite search for truth.
Huang said, "Nowadays, the latest governance theories centered on the core socialist values, the new-normal economic situation, supply-side reform, the 'Belt and Road' initiative, the new type of international relations featuring win-win cooperation and the community of common destiny for all mankind, have reflected the major strategies of China's undertakings since the 18th CPC Congress in November, 2012."
"The fundamental quality of Chinese CPC members should be tested by their belief in Marxism, socialism with Chinese characteristics and Communism," Huang added. "Even though the march towards Communism takes a long journey, the Party members should be faithful to their tenets when they work to achieve their goals with practical manners and broadened views," he said.
