The Silk Road (Dunhuang) International Cultural Expo held its first preparatory meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on November 29. The meeting approved the staff of the organizational committee, official workflow and other details of the expo.
Liu Qibao, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, delivered instructions at the meeting. He said that holding the Silk Road International Cultural Expo and shaping an internationally renowned platform for cultural communication will have great significance in facilitating mutual understanding between different cultures while also boosting mutual trust among the countries along the Silk Road.
Luo Shugang, vice head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and China's culture minister, presided over the meeting. He said that the expo is poised to play an important role in the country's "Belt and Road Initiative," and the organizational committee should have a broad vision while being meticulous in addressing all details of the expo.
Wang Sanyun, Party chief of Gansu Province where the expo is to be held, thanked central authorities for granting his province the opportunity to hold the event and vowed to make the expo satisfactory.
