The Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held a symposium on Dec. 10 to study General Secretary Xi Jinping's remarks at the opening ceremony of the 10th Congress of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC) and the ninth Congress of the Chinese Writers Association (CWA) while meeting with the ninth council representatives of the All-China Journalists' Association (ACJA).

Liu Qibao, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the meeting and gave a keynote speech. He emphasized that the publicity department should study Xi's remarks and spirit, stick to serving the people and socialism, insist on innovative development and promote prosperous development for socialist literature.

Liu stressed that Chinese artists and writers should strengthen their confidence in Chinese culture and create excellent works to inspire the nation, while Chinese journalists should follow a Marxist news approach, maintain correct political and public opinion direction and become reliable journalists both for the Party and the people.

Liu also asked the CFLAC, CWA and ACJA to improve service capabilities, deepen reforms and strengthen organizations' vitalities so as to unite all artists, writers and journalists throughout the country to serve the people and society.
