It's been confirmed Chinese Premier Li Keqiang will be heading to Laos next week to take part in a series of meetings.
They'll include the East Asia Summit, this year's China-ASEAN leaders' meeting, as well as the ASEAN+3 sessions, which includes China, Japan and South Korea.
Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin says Li Keqiang will be travelling to Laos with a full agenda.
"Premier Li Keqiang will elaborate on China's policies toward East Asia cooperation and put forward new proposals for deepening practical cooperation through various mechanisms. The key is to take the opportunity of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN dialogue relations to upgrade the bilateral cooperation mechanism and push East Asia cooperation to a higher level."
On top of marking 25-years of direct talks between China and ASEAN, this year also marks the official establishment of the ASEAN Community.
At the same time, Liu Zhenmin says Li Keqiang will also be moving to try to strengthen direct ties between China and Laos.
"The two sides will exchange views and reach a series of important agreements on the China-Laos comprehensive strategic partnership, as well as international and regional issues of common concern. The two sides will sign a string of cooperation documents."
This will be Li Keqiang's first visit to Laos as Premier.
Laos currently holds the rotating chair of ASEAN.
