Jiang Jianguo, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and minister of the State Council Information Office, delivers a speech on enhancing mobile internet-based government services, June 20, 2016.
The government should ramp up efforts in promoting mobile internet-based information service, said Jiang Jianguo, vice minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and minister of the State Council Information Office, during a summit on June 20.
The rapid development of the mobile internet and other new technology has deeply changed information transmission. As the bridge between the Chinese Communist Party, the government and the public, news media outlets in China should build platforms where government affairs are disclosed and policies are publicized, Jiang said.
He suggested three ways of enhancing mobile internet-based government services.
First, the government at all levels should keep on improving the disclosure of government affairs and information. Against the backdrop of the mobile internet, information disclosure should be more proactive and timely.
Second, media outlets should improve their work in interpreting policies and guiding public opinion. News media should build mobile internet-based government information platforms to interpret government policies, provide information services to the public and channel public opinion.
Third, the government and news media should work together to better inform the public about government information.
