The launching ceremony of "Experience China – Cultural Exploration of West China", an event co-organized by the State Council Information Office (SCIO) and the Chinese Consulate-General in Frankfurt (Germany), opened in the German city on May 17.
Cui Yuying, vice minister of the SCIO, Liang Jianquan, Consul-General of China's Frankfurt consulate, mayors of major cities in Germany, as well as representatives from political, economic, culture and business circles attended the event.
Cui said the process of exchange and mutual understanding between cultures enriches their respective civilizations. She believed that the event would further enhance friendship and cooperation between the two countries by displaying the unique cultures of western China to the foreign audience.
This year's event, which lasts until May 28, will include singing and dancing performances, picture shows, movie displays and symposiums in a bid to introduce China's western region – especially the culture of the Tibet Autonomous Region – to German public.
The Consul-General hopes that these activities will inspire more German people to explore the dynamism and beauty of the region.
