
The Dialogue of Asian Civilization washeld jointly by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China on March 23 in Boao, Hainan Province onthe sidelines of the Boao Forum for Asia, which opened on Thursday.
The dialogue, which was centered on the theme of a "plural civilization and new vitality in Asia," provided an opportunity for delegates from China, Pakistan, Iran, Singapore and UNESCO to share their opinions.
At the dialogue, Jiang Jianguo, vice head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the minister of the State Council Information Office (SCIO), stressed that promoting dialogue and communication in mutual learning is a major undertaking for the Asian civilization.
As per China's suggestions regarding this issue, Jiang made three proposals, establishing a routine mechanism for the dialogue of Asian civilizations, shaping diversified channels to create an environment for this dialogue to take place, and broadening the dialogue to multiple platforms.
His proposals would provide a continuous momentum for the dialogue, allow it to prosper and reach a larger range of people in Asia. He also called for the strengthening of communication among youth in Asia to consolidate the foundations of friendship.
Other guestspeakers showed their agreement and said that equality and mutual respect are important in the cohesion of the greater Asian civilization, which consists of various sub-level civilizations in different countries.
They also said that economic difficulties and security concerns are still most the pressing issues faced by most countries in Asia, and called for cooperation between all countries in Asia to strive for everlasting peace and prosperity in the region.
