Chinese publicity officials must focus on giving the public the proper guidance, strengthening strategic planning, adhering to innovative development, taking well-targeted steps, and bearing the weight of responsibility said Liu Qibao, head of the CPC Central Committee's Publicity Department, at a national meeting on publicity held in Beijing on Jan. 5, 2016.
Liu, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, chaired the meeting and gave instructions to publicity officials on national publicity work in 2016.
Liu's instructions involve seven aspects, namely, using the latest theoretical fruit of Marxism in China to guide the Party and educate the people, attaching great importance to ideological work with a view to maintain national political security, enhancing the credibility and influence of the mainstream media so that they can provide strong public opinion support for comprehensively building a moderately prosperous society, promoting the socialist core values by continuing to improve the overall quality of the people and the level of social civilization, continuing to let socialist literature and art flourish and create more excellent works, continuing to unify social and individual efficiency and quicken cultural reform, continuing to tell China's story and spread China's voice to the outside world and strengthening the international communication capacity while improving China's cultural soft power.
