China-Africa Media Summit held in S. Africa

Jiang Jianguo, minister of the State Council Information Office, announced the congratulations of China’s President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the event.

China-Africa Media Summit, centered on the theme of “ushering in a new era of win-win cooperation”, was held in the port city of Cape Town in South Africa on Dec. 1, 2015.

Jiang Jianguo, minister of the State Council Information Office, announced the congratulations of China’s President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the event.

In his keynote speech, Jiang proposed four suggestions on deepening media cooperation and exchange between the two sides. He urged the press to echo mainstream China-Africa relations, consolidate public support for friendship, collaborate with each other in increasing the representation and voices of China and African countries in the international community and promote practical exchange and cooperation.

Representatives of 120 media from 47 African countries talked with their counterparts from China in a bid to enhance mutual understanding and common development.

South African President Jacob Zuma also sent congratulations to the event.
